1989 年的夏天，香港籠罩在聲援那個的氣氛中。
九龍尖沙咀漢口道上的一棟大廈裏，新力聲錄音室，鄧麗君錄下了
《不了情》
《恨不相逢未嫁時》
《人面桃花》
《莫忘今宵》
《小窗相思》
《三年》幾首國語老歌，以及一首英文歌《Heaven help my heart》，那是那年8月底與九月底的三次試錄。
1990 年的初夏，巴黎的氣溫正宜人，熱浪還沒來，花粉正開始彌漫，錄音室的錄音燈亮了起來。
在琴鍵手Gofrey Wang 的伴奏下，鄧麗君開始她的英文歌曲錄音.....從
《ABraham, Martin and John》
《Smoke Gets in Your Eyes》
《What A Wonderful World》
《Let It Be Me》。
那年，父親過世了。那年，也是鄧麗君巴黎生活的一大步—在巴黎第八區買了一間50坪大的公寓。
第八區是法國著名明星居住區，公寓環境清幽，門禁非常森嚴。鄧麗君的法國生活就在這裡展開—從1989年到1992年間。
由於生活隱密且低調，鄧麗君的巴黎生活是極少為人知曉。除了去有名的FAUCHON咖啡館吃甜點、買紅酒，
或是一些飯店外，鄧麗君常常去的都是老地方，像是古董街或是小日本街，走走香舍裡舍、春天、老佛爺等百貨公司，
或是到聖母院附近的西堤花市買買花，去凡登廣場的麗池大飯店裡的健身俱樂部游泳、健身。
除了一般上街外，鄧麗君也會去麗池夜會，觀摩一些知名的高檔秀；而巴黎歌劇院的歌劇，也是鄧麗君在巴黎的「功課」之一。
對她這樣一位國際級的演藝人員，這些都是值得一看與學習的。
當然，鄧麗君在巴黎的「功課」還有學習法文。她到語文學校學法文，從不中斷，還請了家教到家來教法文。
有一段時間，鄧麗君在巴黎時，也跟李祥霆先生學書法，藉此練習靜心。因為要清靜度日，鄧麗君的巴黎生活並沒有主動與巴黎僑界往來，
有往來都是幾個朋友，像是與大陸定居法國的畫家范曾一家交往，或是新敦煌酒店老闆娘沈雲、瀟湘水雲飯店老闆蘇珊娜等，
連到這幾家熟知的中國餐廳用餐時，都會避開僑界的聚餐除了一般上街外，鄧麗君也會去麗池夜會，
